Tarmacking of the notorious Ol Joro Orok - Dundori earthen road will start in September this year. This was announced by the Roads Minister Franklin Bett when he toured Nyandarua County on a mission to inspect the roads therein.
The Minister spoke at a stop-ver in Dundori trading centre and was accompanied by senior ministry and Kenya Roads Board officials.
Also in his convoy was the County’s District Commissioners including Paul Famba (Nyandarua West) and Ojwang’ (Nyandarua Central).
In the neighbouring, Nakuru County, the minister directed contractors in the Sh. 1 billion Dumdori-Lanet road to finish the project by the end of the year.
S.S.Mehta and Sons Civil Engineers holds the contract to the 16-kilometre stretch of road which links Nakuru County with the agriculture-rich Nyandarua County.
The link road has been a hot topic for discussion with farmers and matatu operators protesting and blaming the contractor of snail’s pace. The Ol Joro Orok - Dundori is another stretch which the residents and users think has been forgotten by the Government.
Meantime, the Roads Ministry has allocated Sh. 30 million to each constituency in Kenya for refurbishment of roads.
Minister Bett announced this noting that the allocations were aimed at improving the road network. He was speaking in Baringo County after touring Nyandarua and Nakuru Counties where he checked roads construction.
The Minisiter said all regions would be made accessible when the on-going road construction and repair is completed.
